What are Aluminium Composite Material Panels

Internal core


Aluminium Composite sheet has a polyethylene core. This make up 90% of the structure of each sheet. Depending on which brand of Aluminium Composite you use this core will be either a Clear/ Grey or Black colour.

External faces


The polyethylene core of your Aluminium Composite sheet is faced with two thin sheets of aluminium. This aluminium is bonded onto the core during the manufacturing process and it is virtually impossible to separate the layers of material once they have been bonded.

Decorative finishes


Aluminium Composite is supplied in a range of finishes. These finishes are applied to the external aluminium faces during the manufacturing process. When you buy a full sheet of Aluminium Composite you will find that the decorative finish is consistent throughout. This delivers a consistent, smooth finish across the entire surface area.

Fire retardant panels consisting of a non- aluminum core with an aluminum cladding are called aluminum composite fire retardant panels. Aluminium composite panels must be considered at the building planning stage so that they can be installed in the construction phase. The purpose of fire retardant panels is to reduce the risk of fire especially in thickly populated buildings for example an auditorium, a cinema an office building or even houses and apartment buildings.

A fire rated product is not necessarily a fire retardant product.  Fire resistant products are made essentially from materials that are non-combustible. A fire retardant product is one which is chemically treated to burn slowly and control the spread of fire which is a behavior that a fire resistant product cannot exhibit.
